Lost Destination: Wigan Casino

Regular price £35.00

With its infamous all-nighters and huge sprung dance floor, Wigan Casino was the epicentre of Britain's Northern Soul music scene from 1973 - 1981, beating New York's Studio 5 to be named Best Disco in the World by Billboard Magazine in 1978. In 1981 the local council refused to extend the club's lease and it was forced to close its doors on 6 December. Demolition of the venue began in 1982.

One of four music additions to our Lost Destination series of prints which take inspiration from the iconic travel posters of the first half of the 20th century, celebrating buildings that in their heyday were destinations in their own right but have since been either immersed in the everyday or demolished.
