Lost Destination: Rotunda

Regular price £35.00

Beloved by Brummies, the 265ft tall Rotunda was designed by James A. Roberts as part of the Bull Ring Shopping Centre and was completed in 1965.

The infamous Coca Cola sign, which was installed in 1981, was at the time the largest neon sign in the UK. The Woolworths store that is also featured on the print closed in 1983, and the demolition of the Bull Ring Shopping Centre commenced in 2000. The grade II listed Rotunda survived and was refurbished by Urban Splash between 2004 - 2008, creating 232 luxury apartments.

Part of our Lost Destination series of prints which takes inspiration from the iconic travel posters of the first half of the 20th century. They celebrate the unique but often forgotten beauty of buildings that in their heyday were destinations in their own right, but have since been either immersed in the everyday or demolished.
