Lost Destination: Maine Road

Regular price £35.00

Maine Road was designed by the architect Charles Swain and still holds the record for the highest home attendance in English football when 84,569 fans watched the FA Cup sixth round match between Manchester City and Stoke City in 1934. City played their final game at the ground on 11 May 2003. The stadium was demolished later that year and replaced by housing.

One of four football stadium additions to our Lost Destination series of prints which takes inspiration from the iconic travel posters of the first half of the 20th century. They celebrate buildings that in their heyday were destinations in their own right but have since been either immersed in the everyday or demolished.
