Inside Information: Claravox - Special Edition for Moog Music
LOW STOCK ALERT - we only have a 100 of these Special Edition prints available to buy and will not be re-issuing once sold out.
In the Summer of 2020 Moog Music asked us to produce an artwork to accompany the launch of the limited edition Claravox Centennial Theremin, which honours the 100th anniversary of Leon Theremin’s musical invention and whose name pays homage to the late great theremin virtuosa Clara Rockmore.
Our Inside Information: Claravox print (produced in the style of our cutaway collection) tells the story of the history of the theremin, all hidden inside the new Claravox Centennial. From the birth of Leon Theremin in 1896 and his first ever demonstration of the theremin in Russia in 1920, to Bob Moog designing and selling his first theremin in 1954 and then releasing the Etherwave model with Big Briar in 1996 (which went on to become the best selling theremin of all time).
The image includes all the usual nods to pop culture that we are well known for sneaking into our work. Including cameos from Clara Rockmore, Neil Armstrong (yes indeed...Google it) and theremin loving musicians like The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, St. Vincent and David Byrne.
We worked closely with the creative team at Moog Music to develop the content for the image and our friend (and partner in ‘cutaway’ crime) Malik Thomas on the illustration.
A limited edition 'serial numbered' print is included with every limited edition Claravox shipped to a customer (you lucky people).
