Lost Destination: Birmingham New Street Signal Box - Special Edition for LTM
Designed EXCLUSIVELY for London Transport Museum shop but now available to buy from Dorothy.
New Street Signal Box was designed by Bicknell & Hamilton and W.R. Healey and completed in 1964. It once housed technology that for its time was as revolutionary as the building itself. A testament to its resilience, 50 years later it still controls one of the busiest rail interchanges in the UK, and in 1995 was awarded Grade II listed status.
Part of our Lost Destination series of prints which takes inspiration from the iconic travel posters of the first half of the 20th century. They celebrate the unique but often forgotten beauty of buildings that in their heyday were destinations in their own right, but have since been either immersed in the everyday or demolished.
