Taylor’s Trip to Town - The Making of our Swift Themed Print 🌈

Unless you have been living under a rock, you’ll know that Taylor Swift recently played three sold-out nights at Anfield, Liverpool as part of the UK leg of her Eras tour.

In Celebration of Swift’s visit to our home town, in true Dorothy fashion and in record time we created a Colours of Taylor Swift Special Edition print (Dorothy’s Version) which features 66 colour inspired references to her music and life.

The print was a real Dorothy team effort with everyone helping research ideas for a Taylor colour palette. Our resident Swifties needed little encouragement to hijack the studio's Spotify account searching for colour references in her songs, albums and lyrics. And even the most reluctant of Swifties turned detective, delving deep into online threads and interrogating other fans for intel about the singer's life we could use in the chart. As a result the the print is full of ‘easter eggs’ with references that only the most super of Swifties may understand.

In the up-run to Taylor's three nights at Anfield, Liverpool City Council set up a Taylor Trail for fans across the city centre which featured 11 art installation dedicated to the 11 albums featured in her Eras tour.

Fans had to pass our studio en route to the second installation on the trail which was the Fearless mural by Molly Hawkins on New Bird Street in the Baltic Triangle. Meaning that Dorothy became the Baltic’s ‘unofficial’ selfie spot for Taylor fans from across the world.

We also collaborated with Liverpool based @girlsonthegolpool so visitors to the studio could pick up a Swiftie friendship bracelet or two.

It is fair to say, if we weren’t all Swifties before this project, we definitely have a studio full now!

The print is available to buy from our Colour Wheels & Chart collection here.

It takes inspiration from a similar range we designed for the Tate in 2016 (The Colours of Liverpool, London and St Ives) which are still being sold in Tate gallery stores today.

Cover image is of @califoryuh from Florida visiting our studio, celebrating being 13 years cancer free by coming to Taylor's show at Anfield on the 13th of June.
