The Stranglers - La Folie (1981)
Punk Rock bruisers The Stranglers embrace the “Summer of Love” and Jean-Luc Godard to produce a post-punk classic which fell between two stools at the time and fell on many a deaf ear.
The Associates - Sulk (1982)
Containing the classic singles "Party Fears Two" & "Country Club”, this was their third and last album by original pairing Alan Rankie and Billy Mackenzie. Was Melody Makers (remember that?) album of the year and can now be regularly heard on Homes Under The Hammer.
The The - Soul Mining (1983)
Matt Johnson’s masterpiece of angst and foreboding produced after too many drink/drug binges came out in UK when big names and even bigger hair ruled the air-ways (before The Smiths came along and put paid to all that). Features Jools “Hootenanny” Holland on the epic Uncertain Smile.
