Rock 'N' Roll Zoo: Blackbird - Special Edition
A special edition Beatles-inspired screen print from our Rock 'N' Roll Zoo range which features illustrations of animals inspired by the titles of famous songs.
Blackbird is a simple and beautiful track from The Beatles' White Album (released in 1968). The song, which is one of the bands most covered tracks, was written by McCartney in response to events of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States.
Dorothy's print recreates the infamous cover of The Beatles' 1969 album Abbey Road which featured a barefoot McCartney and fuelled conspiracy theories that Paul was dead. Many fans (including my mum) were convinced that the procession across the zebra crossing symbolized a funeral march. Crazy times...
Concept and design by Dorothy and illustrations by Tracy Worrall.
